Meet the infamous Simon Girty, portrayed by Dave Westrick, board member of the Fallen Timbers Battlefield Preservation Commission from Maumee, Ohio. Girty struck terror into the hearts of the U.S. settlers in the Ohio Valley and Kentucky from 1770 to 1815. He was a trusted friend to the Native Americans as a translator to the British but a traitor to those who won the American Revolution. Decide for yourself. Was Simon Girty a friend or a foe?

Town and Gown: Anthony Wayne’s Kentuckians

John Trowbridge, Command Historian for the Kentucky National Guard, will highlight the support given by the Kentucky mounted militia led by General Charles Scott to General Anthony Wayne’s sub-legions in 1794. The Kentucky militia joined Wayne’s forces at Fort GreeneVille, helped construct Fort Defiance, and assisted in the defeat of the Indian Confederation at the Battle of Fallen Timbers on August 20, 1794.

Fort Defiance 225th Anniversary 1794-2019

FORT DEFIANCE 225th ANNIVERSARY 1794 – 2019 The Andrew L. Tuttle Memorial Museum is preparing to commemorate the 225th anniversary of the building of Fort Defiance and the Battle of Fallen Timbers. Tentative plans for the summer of 2019 include a 1794 Military Staff Ride.
