September 1st - Better Breakfast Month

Rib Fest 2010

 Annual Rib Fest, Saturday, September 25th, 2010 from 4pm – 11pm.  The Fall Rib Fest will feature 10 vendors this year to satisfy the palates of area rib-lovers. Vendors include: Nickerson’s, Just Smok’n BBQ for U, Kissners, Am Vets, Defiance Fire Department, Jewel Fire Department, The Station, Nancy’s, Defiance Swim Club (DAYS), and Welker’s Ribs. 

 Music will start at 4pm this year with Jami Young providing karaoke until 6:30pm. At 7pm Wally and the Beavs will be center stage to provide music until 11pm.  If you feel like a  “Rock Start at Heart,” raffle tickets will be available during the evening for a chance to perform on stage with Wally and the Beavs that evening. 

Adult beverages will be served throughout the evening and the Defiance Senior Center will sell pop and water.  Other food available will be fries from Frank’s Fries, pie from Bud’s, hot dogs from Dawgs and Spuds and ice cream from Eric’s All American. 

There will be a $2 admission fee at the gate.  12 and under will be free.  You must provide valid identification to recieve a bracelet that enables you to purchase adult beverages.  Entry gates will be located at 4th and Clinton and 2nd and Clinton. 

A special addition to the event this year will be the opportunity to view the Budweiser Clydesdales.  The Clydesdales will be located on west 4th street from 2pm – 5pm.  The horse will parade the downtown area at 2pm and 3pm.  This exciting opportunity has been provided to the community by City Beverage.

AuGlaize Village 2010 Schedule of Events

AuGlaize Village is located on Krouse Road three miles west of Defiance, Ohio and one mile south of U.S. 24 west.

Hours:  Open on event days and 2nd and 4th weekends May through October, or by special arrangement.

Admission:  Adults $3, Senior Citizens $2, Students (6-16) $1, under six and members of the Defiance County Historical Society are free.

EVENTS:
Nob Hammer-In……….April 30th – May 2nd

Sponsored by NOB, this event is open to those interested in learning or improving their skills in blacksmithing.  Demonstrators, workshops and hands-on classes.  A registration fee will apply.  Contact Mel Hoch at 419-395-1314 to register.

Days of Yesteryear………May 7

A field trip for students.  The village comes alive with craftspeople demonstrating a variety of pioneer crafts and skills.  Hours 9am to 3pm.

Black Swamp Steam & Gas Show & Flea Market……..June 12th and 13th

Steam and gas engines and antique tractors are displayed and demonstrated.  There is an operating sawmill; antique, modified and garden tractor pulls; a pre-1840 encampment and live music.  Hours are 10am – 5pm.

Motorama…………………..July 11

Open to self-propeled, motorized, or powered “anything”.  Antique cars, customs, rods, fire trucks, and cycles.  $10 registration fee.  Hours are 10am – 3pm.

Johnny Appleseed Festival……….October 2-3

The big event of the year.  The village becomes a beehive of activity featuring crafts and the production of apple butter and sorghum molasses.  An antique tractor pull, garden tractor pull and a pre-1840 encampment.  Fun for the entire family.  Hours are 10am – 5pm.

Halloween Lantern Tour………….October 15-16

The spooks and goblins come out nightly for this guided tour of a haunted village.  Hours are 8pm to 10:30 pm.  Admission is $5.00.

Santa Train………..December 4 & December 11

Christmas with Santa.  Hours are Noon to 4pm.

Membership:  AuGlaize village is operated solely by volunteers of the Defiance County Historical Society, a non-profit educational organization.  A yearly membership not only gives you free admission to the village, but also helps in the preservation and upkeep of the buildings and artifacts.  Memberships are:  Individual $5; Family $10; Supporting $25; Sustaining $50 and Life $100.
